This chair is covered in ' “Hatteras”, manufactured at Caromount. The was taken in the upholstery department of the Line Emerson Shops located in Rocky Mount. No Bluffing In Safety Viany a poker pot has been won lost by bluffing. The skilled bluffer "bets" ’em as if he had making a pair of deuces ^'Ound like a full house to his op- b'^Jicnt. Sometimes he’s lucky 'mougli to rake in the pot with- showing his hand; sometimes bs opponent calls his bluff. Bluffing is part of the game of b^ker hut in the game of life and I'Jbb, We can’t afford to be caught I'lbffing. By bluffing in Safety, are pretending that we plan actions to take advantage of ^1 safety precautions, that we properly using all mechani- j^l safeguards and that we are blly sold on the general safety b^'ogram, when deep down in our 5^rts we know we’re only bluf- .^bg ourselves—that we are leav- b% a false impression on our fel- (See SAFETY Page 3) Bottles Cause Trouble Empty bottles find their ways into many places around the mill where they may cause serious accidents. Employees may im prove this situation by following i one easy rule—Put Empty Bot- ; ties in the Bottle Racks as soon j as you finish your drink. i Let your foreman know if you I cannot find bottle racks in your I department. The Caromount Athletic Asso ciation lost about 144,000 bottles during 1954 at the Caromount (See BOTTLES Page Two) Easter Holiday Observed In order to observe the Easter Monday holiday, all operations in the plant will be suspended Monday, April 11, 1955. Regular working schedules now in force will be resumed Tuesday, April 12, 1955 at 6:00 a. m. Company Exhibit At Better Living Show Beginning March 29, and con tinuing through April 2, The Rocky Movant Chamber of Com merce is sponsoring a “Better Living Exposition” to be held at Fenner’s No. 2 Warehouse each evening from 7:00 p. m. until 10:30 p. m. Booth space has been sold to over 100 member- firms of the Chamber of Com merce and each firm will prepare an exhibit displaying its products or equipment. The folks here at Caromount will be particularly interested in the booth exhibited by Sidney Blumenthal, which will be located about midway the ex hibit area. Free entertainment and thou sands of dollars in door prizes will be furnished each evening throughout the Exposition, with no admission charge to anyone. On Tuesday, the opening night, Tim Holt, the famous cowboy, will demonstrate some of his tal ents in western roping and shoot ing; The Royal Rockets, acrobatic skaters, will also be present to entertain you; there will be tra peze acts, the TV Chimps, Roby and Del, acrobatic dancers from Ed Sullivan’s TV show, “Toast of the Towm”; Lady Rhoda, a world famous magician and the Jolly Sisters, vocalists and guitar players. On Wednesday night there vvill be free bingo for 3,000 people who will receive $500 in bingo prizes. Thursday night Miss North Carolina, Betty Jo Ring, will be on the program, along with a fashion show spon sored by local merchants. Fri day night will be Safety Award night and the program will end on Saturday with a big square dance and the “Duke of Padu cah”. On Saturday night more than S5,000 in prizes will be awarded to people attending the exposition. This Exposition promises to be one of Rocky Mount’s most outstanding events in a long time, and it is hoped that all of us at Caromount will be among those enjoying the fun at Fenner’s No. 2 Warehouse from March 29, through April 2, from 7:00 p. 111. until 10:30 p. m. Don Jackson Succumbs Suddenly Enroute Home DO YOUR PART Put Empty Bottles In The Rack It is with deep regret that we report the death of Don Jackson, on March 2, 1955. Don was a plumber with the Engineering De partment, where he had worked since March 28, 1951. Funeral services were held on March 4, from the home of his sister, Mrs. Marvin Towe, with burial in Pineview Cemetery. Don is survived by his mother, Mrs. Etta Jackson, with whom he made his home, three sisters and two brothers. All of us here at Caromount are saddened by Don’s death and he will be greatly missed by all his fellow employees. Personnel Office In New Location Now The Caromount Personnel Of fice has been moved to the newly purchased building at the en trance to the mill property at the corner of Ridge and Carr Streets. Employees are invited to use the services of the Personnel Of fice as in the past. It is especial ly important that the Personnel Office be notified of changes in number of dependents, address, or beneficiary to life insurance. Members of the Personnel staff will be glad to discuss any em ployee problem.
